Government regulations permitting, we have a great program for all over the Christmas period.

Strange Year

To say that 2020 has been a strange year would be an understatement! We appreciate that for many, it has been difficult, and for some, resulted in real hardship, anxiety and worse. We believe that Christmas is Great News, because it speaks of a God who cares, who came to us to give us hope and strength, and to deal with our deepest needs. That is why we are so eager to share Christmas with you.

Christmas Café – Saturday 12th Dec, 10am – 12:30pm, 2pm – 4pm

Normally, we would be having a fantastic time running our Christmas Market. Sadly, due to COVID, we are not able to do so this year. Nevertheless, we’d like to invite you to a Christmas Café. Enjoy a great cup of coffee or tea with some delicious cakes for a very reasonable price. All profits will go to a great cause:

Save our Children’s Sight

We hope to provide you with a video presentation in due course. So do re-visit this page from time to time. No doubt you will find this a very worthy cause. Here is the story of one of the children concerned.

Of course, we will provide you a Covid safe environment in full accordance with whatever government guidelines are in operation at the time.

Update: We want to say a big thank you to Costa for donating some coffee and tea to our Christmas Café. We raise close to £300 for Save our Children’s Sight. And, of course, a big thank you to all who came and supported us!

Also, here’s the video shown during the Christmas Café by Dave Clarke, Addy’s father, giving an insight on Batten disease and how it impacts those affected by it:

Carols and Puppets – Sunday 13th Dec, 10:30 – 11:30 am

Our ‘Carols and Puppets Christmas (Family) Service’ is back for 2020!

Come and join us for a special Christmas service featuring the Freshbrook Puppets. There will be carols, readings and a Christmas story themed talk along with features from the puppets as they sing Christmas songs and perform a specially written Christmas story.

The video service will premiere on the Freshbrook Church YouTube Channel at 10.30am on Sunday 13th December, or come along to the church (covid restrictions permitting) to join with others and watch the service on the big screens (booking in advance is needed). We look forward to having you join with us as we celebrate the Christmas story and bring some joy to the world! 🙂

Update: Here’s the service if you’ve missed it …

Carols by Candlelight – Thursday 17th, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th Dec, 6-7pm

For many of us Carols by Candlelight captures the spirit of Christmas. Carols, candles, the smell of mulled wine, the simple message about Jesus and the pastor wearing his Christmas jumper. This year there may not be the smell of mulled wine as we can’t serve refreshments but the other usual ingredients will be present.

Covid Safe regulations mean that numbers will be limited so we are running the same programme on three different evenings to enable as many as possible to attend. Book using the link on the church website.

To keep us all safe you will need to wear a face covering (unless you are exempt), social interaction will be limited to your household or bubble, and singing will need to quieter than usual. For all that, these will be great evenings and we would love you to come along.
