World that we might live through Him

International Food Evening  - Saturday 27th Feb 2010 at 7 - 9:30 pm

         Imagine:

The leisure and pleasure of Mediterranean Greece,

The sultry heat of the deserts of Morocco,

                                The sophistication of ancient Nepal,

The multicultural sunshine of South Africa,

The ruggedness and wildness of Uzbekistan.

Where else can you get a taste from all these countries in a single place on a single night?

The theme of our very first International Food Evening is lamb. Why not come and have fun sampling lamb dishes from these diverse countries? If you are vegetarian, don't be put off, we cater for you too! Just let us know when you're ordering your ticket.

With Easter just around the corner, enjoy delightful anecdotes from David Sullivan, a long standing professional shepherd, and find out what lamb has to do with the Christian message of Easter. And there might just be one or two other pleasant surprises on the night as well ...

Recipes of the main dishes will be available at the end of the evening for you to try at home!

Come and join us, we’d love to see you! (Tickets via office@freshbrook.org or call 01793 873050).

Family Quiz Night - Saturday 30th Jan 2010

(Report coming up soon!)

Christmas Market - Saturday 5th Dec 2009

December saw Freshbrook's first ever Christmas Market held in the church and outside areas. Despite the rain we had a large turn out. There were a range of stalls selling everything from Russian crafts to Christmas decorations to jewellery and much more. Shoppers and browsers were able to sustain themselves with burgers, mince pies and mulled wine. During the evening, children from two local schools sang carols and were joined by a brass band.

Our thanks go to all who braved the rain, who made the holding the event so worthwhile. Thanks also goes to all the stall holders whose diverse merchandise made it so interesting and attractive to all who came. We are pleased to inform you that, thanks to your support, we raised £481 for the Swindon Foodbank.

Family Quiz Night - Saturday 14th Nov 2009

There was lots of rivalry and banter going on at this month’s quiz night.

The questions tested everybody’s geography in an ongoing round of having to recall Capital cities of countries from each continent of the world. A further 6 rounds included science, sport, and general knowledge to name a few. Some sneaky banana skins were thrown in there to test even the keenest mind!

Our very able Quiz Master for the evening was Mick Hill whose word was final and whose jokes were awful. Apart from that he skilfully negotiated the 6+ rounds with Kate his wife doing the scoring.

In the end victory went to Andy and his work colleagues “F4S too” with a total score of 112 points. Our many thanks go to all who came, old and new, and to all who made the evening such a success.

Last but not least, thanks to everybody for helping to raise £182 for the Swindon Foodbank.

We look forward to the next Quiz Night on January 30th

Parent & Toddlers' Ladies' Dessert Evening - Wednesday 4th Nov

Lots of delicious puddings was had by the all! Our after-pudding speaker, Sue Sheikh, who is a Senior Staff Nurse/Theatre Practitioner at Swindon's Great Western Hospital, gave a thought provoking talk, recounting her experience as a Christian of over 30 years. A great evening!

Lite Night - Saturday 31st Oct 2009

A Lite Nite party on Saturday 31st October for Primary School aged children. Twenty-three children took part and had a great time of fun with games, craft, song and, of course, food! Many came dressed in bright colours, the brightest and most colourful of which won a prize!

Lite Night Cafe - Saturday 31st Oct 2009

While the children had their fun and games, their mums and dads and friends enjoyed a relaxed cup of coffee and home made cakes. It was great to get to know some of the parents.
